Right now I'm upset because there's so much going on this week. I hate it when there's too much going on.

This morning, finally, I actually had time to make my bed! I'm no longer sleeping on a bare mattress, yay!! And now that it's made, I can hook up my rear speakers, too - they're suspended from the lattice of the loft bed, so they'd be in the way of the bed-making.
Anyway, some of you know that I've been doing a lot of research on police lately, so I can write Tom (Cassie's boyfriend) believably.. Well, last night, my new roommate was telling me about security in our neighborhood, and I mentioned that there are always a police car or two around the corner. She said, "They live here!" I was surprised - I thought police left their cars at the station. But it turns out, THERE'S A GUY IN MY NEW WARD WHO'S A POLICEMAN!!!!!And his twin brother, also in the ward, is a fireman.
I can't wait to pick his brain about it!! XDD
I am such a dork.

PS~ Today and yesterday have been Stheno, Typhon's daughter. Yes, Typhon has a daughter. I'll explain later.
PPS~ I HAVE A HOME!! I got the condo I wanted, that I saw last week. :3 I get to sign the contract tomorrow at lunch time! (Was going to be morning, but the landlord called and rescheduled.)
I've been apartment hunting hard this week.. Emailed a bunch of places, called a few.. Looked at two places yesterday, one tonight, one tomorrow, of the ones who responded to my queries. The two yesterday are not going to work.
The one I saw today.. is about three condos down the row from the place I really wanted, last month (but which was granted to someone else, and became a can of worms). Anyway, the room in this place is a single private bedroom, not overly large (and not a two-bedroom suite like the other place), but a good setup for my furniture, with a nice, big closet. The bathroom is shared, but I can deal with it. The window (as opposed to the other unit's windows, which faced the parking lot) overlooks the park. Lovely. ^_^ There are two other girls there, one of whom showed me around, and was pretty congenial. The basement is unfinished, but it's HUGE and has TONS of space for whatever of my crap I can't fit in my room/elsewhere in the house. I could probably even move my art desk down there and sew/paint *there* instead of in my room, if I wanted.
I've left a message on the landlord's phone, and sent him an email, to say that I'm 90% sure I'd like to sign a contract, and asked him to hold the place for me for 24 hours or so, until after I've seen the other place tomorrow and can tell him for sure. Hopefully he hasn't had any real offers yet. It would be nice to not have the rug swept out from under me this time.
In other news, the fuse that I replaced in my car (for my clock/radio/lighter) last month seems to have blown again. I wonder if there's a problem. I hate not being able to tell the time, listen to the radio, or charge my cell phone, especially since tonight I had an appointment, had left off at a tense spot in my audiobook, and my phone had died at work. Ugh!

-> I have finished the upper armbands on my costume, and spent 3 episodes of Stargate Atlantis sewing 3 buttons on each of them, and also sewing a total of 12 buttons on my pants. Next is the gauntlets, but they'll be tricky because the red fabric I have left from the vest is irregularly shaped. I can do it, but it will take a little ingenuity. Or another trip to the fabric store.
-> Surround sound speakers on my computer are very cool. Roommates, sorry about the subwoofer.I promise not to use it after 2am.
-> I spoke with my manager and have gotten permission to extend my housing contract through August. This allows me to not stress out about landing a new apartment and packing before SDCC. Also, it prevents me from being homeless like Fi and Ki for two weeks between contracts, in case I can't find one to fit my needs that's available any sooner. (The homeless people are still welcome to stay with me and stow their stuff if they need to, when the time comes. Best case scenario: I find a contract that starts *beginning*ish of August, and can spend the month moving leisurely, which means that there will be room in my new place for you[r stuff]. Will keep you posted.)
-> I am officially rewarding myself for the first 50-point milestone in my art chart. While I'm monstrous behind on Artslam (because of laziness and working on my costume), I tallied my points from January through June and came out with 63 (half of which were in June itself). My reward is a $15 iTunes card, because it's the only actual prize in my grab bag so far (I thought I had gotten more. Oh well), and because I want to buy some music.
-> You are all awesome. Thank you.
-> OH!! Also, new camera! I mentioned I want to get a nice Nikon digital SLR, but the timing's still not right for it. I want to make sure I pay deposit/etc on housing before I make a hefty purchase like that, for one. I also don't want to get a supernice camera and put myself (and it) through a trial by fire at SDCC, when I will need to use it and won't know how, and where it could get lost, broken, or stolen. Also, it will be heavy and bulky, and I'll already be laden with swag. So I went with a lighter, more compact, cheaper alternative and got this to use in the meantime and for my less serious photography needs. It's pink, it's cute, it fits in my purse/pocket/whathaveyou, and it's easy to use.

In other news, I've been really enjoying watching the Olympics. The 4x100 Freestyle Relay Sunday night, the one where we beat trash-talking France by .08 seconds, was awesome. (We beat the world record by 4 whole seconds; even 5th place beat the world record!) And I enjoyed the first bit of synchronized diving last night. My favorite event, though, BY FAR, is the men's gymnastics. It was pretty tense in the finals last night, when even after an incredible run on the high bar, we flubbed up on floor routine by stepping out of bounds (except for Superman Jonathan Horton, who was *amazing*), but Sasha Artemev saved us with his amazing breakdancing-in-air on the pommel horse and won us the bronze.
Aside from the aesthetic merits of the event.. no, actually *because* of the aesthetic merits of the event, I've decided to collect reference of men's gymnastics for use in Muse. (Have you seen these guys' ARMS??? Like Kevin Tan on the still rings--GAAAH!!!) I've even found some great shots I can use for flying poses. XD
So I've been thinking that I can think of Diomedes as built something like a gymnast (but not one of the skinny ones), Ajax is massive like a weightlifter, and Castor and Pollux are.. more like Abercrombie models. (Would it be too cliche for me to actually make them models? It would suit their lifestyle so well...)

It's been a busy week-ish for me. Busier than usual, even.
Tuesday and Wednesday after work I went [rental] house hunting again with Duo, Sanzo, and Isaura. We've been at it for several months, but this week we found a couple of places that we really liked. One is an oldish house in Orem whose selling points include a sizable yard, 4 bedrooms (including the master), a living room *and* family room, and a craft area with a sink nearby (perfect for painting!). The downsides are that it's pretty old so there are old/grimy corners/crevices/etc, and that the ceilings are quite low.
The other one is a townhouse in Provo, about 200 S just past the freeway, which isn't much on the outside, but was light and airy and open inside. It has 3 bedrooms (including the master), 2.5 bathrooms, tall ceilings, a neat kitchen that's good for entertaining, a tiny den, and a living room. Less space overall than the other, I'd say, but I loved the openness of it. I've always wanted to live in a townhouse; I think they're charming. Also there's a shared pool out the front, and a park with swingsets and another pool out the back. The owner wants 2 months' rent plus a deposit up front, though, and that's a lot of money to come up with all at once (particularly when Isaura and I won't get our deposits back from this current place til the end of August, at least).
Thursday I took advantage of Fi being out of town to put in some needed overtime. I pulled 12 hours on Thursday - didn't leave the office til 9. Friday I left about a quarter to 8. Since I didn't go in on Saturday, that put me at 88 hours in two weeks, which is about 18 hours more than I usually pull. Yay for overtime pay (and it wasn't so bad.. it's kinda fun after-hours), but I'm still not nearly done, and deadlines are looming. We'll see how the next couple of weeks go.
(Which reminds me, Breaking Dawn comes out in less than two weeks, and I haven't decided who I'm preordering it from, yet! Any of you heading to a midnight release party?)
Saturday I finally got my hair cut (re-layered in the front, and 4 inches off the bottom.. hardly even noticeable), went to the temple (Provo was closed, so we wandered up to Mount Timp, only getting a little lost), and watched the Avatar finale (*sniff*).
Also, my rogue just made 58!
And right now I'm working on a
caer_awen piece, yay! (After struggling with the beginning setup, I skipped to the Important Conversation in the second half and just wrote the dialogue (which is what I *really* wanted to get to), and now I'm filling in the description and stage directions and stuff.. I never wrote like that before, but it's been kinda helpful in this scene. I may try it again in the future.)

I realize we haven't known each other very long, but I have certain expectations for one of your position. I need you to work even if the stove is steaming up your keypad. I expect you to have a functioning timer, to not reset the clock whenever I try to use said timer, and any time I push any button, you should respond with the appropriate task.
And if you ever burn my popcorn again, so help me, I will tear you out of the wall like the piece of junk you've just proven yourself to be. Do you think this is a joke? Because it's not funny. It's blasphemy, and I will not have it in my house.
Just try me.

PS~ And if it's not too inconvenient, could you have a word with the smoke alarm and the fire sprinkler and ask them to stop malfunctioning as well? And while you're at it, put the towel rack back into the wall, too.
